Brahima Sawadogo

Brahima Sawadogo is an agro-economist specialising in rural development and project management. He has 10 years' professional experience in development projects and programs with various national and international NGOs.

He has conducted several studies on the agricultural sector and specifically on cooperatives, including one on the problem of financing farmers' organisations in Niger. He also contributed to capacity building for farmers in the cowpea and sesame sectors with the NGO Inades-formation, where he learned a great deal about the value chain approach and the fundamentals of agroecology.

For the past 8 years, he has worked as a project manager within cooperatives or as a cooperative development manager for partner NGOs. Before joining Agriterra, he was in charge of the Farmers' Organisations department at the Dreyer Foundation.

He holds a Master's degree in Agricultural and Environmental Economics from the Université Nobert Zongo in Koudougou, and a Master II in Innovation and Rural Development from the Université Joseph KY-ZERBO in Ouagadougou.

Furthermore, he is also fundamentally convinced that the agricultural development of countries whose dependence on agriculture no longer needs to be demonstrated, necessarily requires the emergence of a dynamic, high-performance cooperative system. And to achieve this, it is our duty to give ourselves the time and resources to strengthen the technical, material and financial capacities of cooperatives, so that they can take charge of their operations and play their role to the full.
