Building a network of Agripool experts
Approximately one hundred farmers, ranchers and people involved in the cooperative sector from all over Spain met on 10 March 2016 in Madrid for the first-ever Agripoolers Meeting organised by Acodea. This agri-agency was founded by UPA and Fademur and is part of the AgriCord network. It is currently building a network of Agripoolers who will be involved at a regular basis in advisory projects in developing countries. Read more

”Food comes first and then morality”
Farmers who earn 600 euros a year will not go into organic farming because of the establishment of a better world. In the Philippines NGOs had a lot of sustainable and poverty goals and programmes towards farmers in the past, before these NGOs turned into Farmers organisations or now even cooperatives. This demands a shift in their thinking from organic as a public good into organic as a business model for farmers. You have to dare to do the math to convince farmers that organic business will be more profitable. Luckily, going into cooperatives will make this shift happen more naturally.

Dutch Seeds Debate: 5 April 2016
The Dutch Seeds Debate is part of a campaign set up by Agriterra. Agriterra has been created by the Dutch agriculture and food sector; its objective is to professionalise co-operatives in developing countries. During this new campaign, Agriterra will talk with companies and the Dutch government. The campaign’s central idea is that cooperation between companies and smallholder farmers will benefit all. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation supports the campaign. Read more
